Sitting furniture, some of its properties and methods of testing

Sitting furniture is considered from the anatomic and physiological as well as the aesthetic aspects. The comfort of furniture and the main characteristics of upholstered furniture elements such as springs, foam materials, elastic and hard supports and the decorative and covering layer of furniture are presented. Total properties of upholstered furniture are considered as a result of different layer properties interaction. Special attention is given to the interaction: human body - upholstered furniture. Testing methods are shown far human body and for furniture separately. Standardized methods in the USSR, Sweden and SFR Yugoslavia are presented and the suggestions of some researchers are given.
