Title:
Contribution to veneer feeling theory
Research subject and fields:
Abstract:
The investigations carried out in this work show that the quality of peeled veneer besides well - known factors also depends on growth stress in wood fibre and the knife and pressing bar position thus causing curving of the veneer band to the opposite side forming the radius of so created curvature. The work shows two essential forms of log centre formation and its minimal diameter determination. Besides, functional connection between log formation in the course of peeling and the difference of veneer band thickness has been shown in an adequate way. By analysing the log centre form and the difference in veneer thickness the significance of an additional pressing bar, its advantages and drawbacks in particular cases have been shown.
