Title:
Wood market at the beginning of the second quarter 1976
Research subject and fields:
Abstract:
A revival has been noticed upon the wood market the consequence of which is sporadic higher or lower price increase. The highest rise in price of plywood was noticed in Canada and the lowest in Japan. Price increase in Italy was greatly influenced by hight rate of lira decrease. The demand in a great part of West European countries and in North America has been on the increase which is expected to be continued in the future. Price increase would also take place just because of its low last year rate. In spite of certain signs that on coniferous sawn timber market the same situation as in 1973 might lake place with autumn disturbing market balance the exporters and importers are expected to do their best in order to protect their own interests. Uncertainty in development anticipation is caused by floating exchange rate of main world currencies. If the existing development is going on in the future it may cause unfavourable consequences in foreign trade development and even in foreign wood trade.
