Rationalization of veneer consumption in furniture manufacture

With respect to the ever increasing shortage of quality decorative veneer in furniture production, the author proposes a number of measures for better utilization of veneer. As a way to higher yield he recommends: right choice of veneer - utilization of veneer from domestic woods - utilization of thinner veneer - more care in loading and unloading veneer in railway transport - proper storage of veneer - purposeful veneer preparation - more careful handling of veneer - untraditional veneer splicing - use of melting fibre in veneer splicing - elimination of veneering of plywood. In the conclusion the author draws attention to a factor very important for better utilization of veneer, i. e. to the extention of the service life of furniture mainly by better surface treatment of furniture
