Quality of armchairs, sofas and seating groups is possible to define by means of quality factors and the achieved level of each factor. It is an interesting question what are the basic quality factors and what influence them. A group of factors connected to durability - firmness of armchairs, sofas and seating groups have been tested. Defects depending upon the element in which appear and on a layer of the individua! element have been examined. The seat has been examined separately. The defects appear in fabrics, covering layer, flexible layer, base and on the other parts in different time interval. A problem of influence of construction of seats on its durability has been analyzed. Characteristics of elasticity and its changes on the seats of high and average durability have been tested.
