Title:
Some structural characteristics of juvenile and mature oakwood (Quercus robur L.)
Research subject and fields:
Abstract:
Among the problems related to the rational conversion of poor-quality logs, this work focuses on the structure of juvenile oakwood (Quercus robur L.). The article presents the results of comparative research on juvenile oakwood from two different localities (Czechoslovakia and SR Croatia). The research includes variations in length and diameter of libriform fibers, thickness of their membranes, diameters of vessel members, and the proportion of uniseriate and multiseriate wood rays. Measurements have been conducted in annual rings from 2 to 60 years, revealing that juvenile oakwood (Quercus Robur L.) extends from the pith up to approximately the 40th annual ring.
