Abstract:
The development of Swedish furniture products until now has primarily been carried out in production organizations, in collaboration, to a greater or lesser extent, with designers. However, product development, marketing, and design have largely been assumed by retail chains and commercial networks. The retail network of IKEA, through its catalogs and propaganda, exerts a significant influence on furniture purchases by guiding consumers in terms of styles and tastes.
In order to keep pace with international competitors and maintain a leading position globally, Swedish furniture manufacturers will continue to focus on researching Scandinavian design and its application to create products with specific characteristics, thereby enhancing export capabilities.
