Title:
Resistance of plywood to pressure and compression perpendicular to sheet surface in laminated constructions
Research subject and fields:
Abstract:
The stress in this work has been put on testing resistance of birch plywood on pressure and compression perpendicular to sheet surface. In this way, indinspensable data for making projects and calculations of laminated building constructions, exposed in some elements to pressure and compression, have been supplemented. The study comprises theoretic and practical part. In the theoretic considerations of pressure and compression of building plywood by a load perpendicular to sheet surface as non-linear elastic layer of final thickness, the results of researches of the other authors about deformation of linear-elastic layer have been employed and applied to testing conditions of plywood. Results of experimental work show sufficient consistency with the theoretically calculated values. Deviations range within the limits 0 - 100% proving applicability of theory for evaluation of the deformation of building plywood at local pressure and compression by square pressing body.
