Title:
Queueing theory and simulations in optimization of volume of maintainance service in industry
Research subject and fields:
Abstract:
This work demonstrates the possibility of applying some methods of operations research (queueing theory and simulations) for determination of optimal number of persons engaged in plant maintenance service. On a concrete example from timber industry a flow of work has been described, whilst the utilization of computes facilitated the job and led it to making of model and analysis or results. In making efforts to reduce the production costs and aiming to achieve more successful and profitable business by applying the same theoretic base (only outlined), it would be possible to optimize other function of a work organiazation, but naturally using adequate models. Because of the possibility of application, the simulations play an important part in solving large number of practical problems in the area of organization of industrial production and all ancillary means and activities.
