Title:
Compression and bending strength of beech and locust wood under different temperature and water contents conditions
Research subject and fields:
Abstract:
ln this paper some mechanical properties of beech and locust wood under different degrees of hydrothermic plasticity have been examined. Comparatively were tested: compression strength and compression deformation degree, bending strength and elasticity modul, and toughness according to Janka and Monnin, at 8 and 25% of wood moisture and 20, 50, 70 and 90 °C temperature. The purpose of this works was to establish plastification degree, respectively these kinds of reaction to different temperature and water contents treatments. The examined mechanical properties are significant in determination of plastification degree and wood quality in bending process. The plasticity is expressed by Janke equation for toughness and toughness coefficient according to Monnin. The results show that plasticity properties have been increased by increasing wood temperature at the same moisture contents. Here locust wood has shown a better plasticity than beech wood.
