Title:

Protection of joinery timber by steeping method

Research subject and fields:
Abstract:

In this article the possibility of chemical preservation of fir or spruce exterior joinery timber by means of steeping method with organic solvent wood preservatives have been researched. Results of investigation have shown that after 3 hours steeping the lateral penetration gains mean depth of 2 mm, and mean lateral absorption of 150 g/m2. After 3 days steeping lateral penetration attains depth of more than 8 mm, and mean lateral absorption of 300 g/m2. For the sarme period of steeping axial penetration and absorption gain 10 to 20 times greater values. By this method it is possible to preserve satisfactory exterior fir or spruce joinery timber, which is after build in object unserviceable for additional protection .
