This study investigates a new method of bonding beech and fir specimens by activation of autohesive forces in wood with natrium hydroxide applying four different filler types for gaps in joints based on lignin. The samples show good initial strength and some fir specimens also good water resistance which has been better than water resistance of fir specimens bonded with resorcinol-phenol-formaldehyde based resin. This study comprises also examination of various parameters of pressing.
