Title:
Water-soluble polysaccharides of bleached kraft (pine) pulp
Research subject and fields:
Abstract:
Two types of hemicellulose isolation have been used to extract water-soluble polysaccharide from bleached kraft softwood (pine) pulp. The first is a chemical method in which sodium hydroxide (8%) is used, and the second is a mechanical method in which carbohydrate, which is dissolved during beating, is isolated. Micro analysis investigations have shown that the extracted material is mainly carbohydrate. Composition analyses on water-soluble polysaccharides extracts have shown that xylan is the predominant component.
