Determination of internal stresses in longitudinal direction during kiln drying of timber

This paper gives results of a pilot testing of possibilities to determine internal stresses in longitudinal direction showing up during kiln drying of timber. On the basis of the results obtained it has been concluded that the standard technique of lamination gives satisfactory indicators also if applied in longitudinal direction. Maximum values of the stresses established in tension amounted to 4:43 M-Pa and in pressure amounted to 6.96 Mpa.
