Title:
Technological properties of urea bonded resins important for particleboard production
Research subject and fields:
Abstract:
In production of particleboards resins consumption certainly comes in the first place. Daily consumption of resins, in a factory manufacturing 110000 cbm particles per annum, amounts to 40000 kg resins. The resins have quite a considerable effect on the price of particleboards, on additional liberating of formaldehyde from finished boards, on their physical and mechanical properties and on capacity of the plants. Briefly told, the resins, along with the other technological suppositions should provide for efficient production of light and strong particleboards. This paper reviews the most important characteristics and properties of resins on which depend considerably the success of bonding in particleboard production. These are: size of glue drops, consumption and applycation of glue, dry glue matter, viscosity and density, meltability and pH-value of glue.
