Title:
Producing veneer of oak (quercus robur erch) by pyramidal cutting
Research subject and fields:
Abstract:
The paper gives account of veneer production out of oak (Quercus robur Erch) with outstanding lateral (tangential) texture, the so-called »pyramidal«, on standard equipment. The habitual way of cutting flitches into veneer has been substituted by vertical cut. The yield proved to be considerably higher than in the case of conventional cutting in the direction of medullary rays. The same was noticed for productiveness resulting from the work on standard equipment.
