Title:
Heat and moisture content transfer in the mat during particleboard pressing
Research subject and fields:
Abstract:
Article presented measurements of temperature and moisture content in the particleboard made without resin during hot pressing. Data is presented to illustrate effects of initial mat moisture content on measured temperature and moisture content at the face and core layers. Face temperature and moisture content are changing at different rates, but it quickly be equalized. In core layers, these different rates takes constant from start to the end press cycle. High initial mat moisture content means temperature increase on faster rate at face layers. Hot pressing of particleboard is transient process of heat and mass transfer. This is task that requires mathematical modelling using numerical techniques.
