Title:
Relation between emission formaldehyd value from MDF-boards determinated by perforation and diffusion method
Research subject and fields:
Abstract:
The application of MDF boards offers great possibilities for the development of boards made of wood particles, this development being particularly important because of the lack of quality raw wood material. MDF boards, owing to their technical and technological characteristics, have a quality similar to that of solid wood. Their main disadvantage, however, is free formaldehyde emission. This work uses the perforator and WKI-24 method for determining the free formaldehyde values from E1 class MDF boards. The results obtained lead us to the conclusion that the precise determination of free formaldehyde emission is possible using diffusion method. This method is more simple and cheap in relation to the other testing methods and can be recommended for application in furniture manufacturers' laboratories.
