Abstract:
The main objective of this study is to find possibilities far automatic determination of the method of furniture parts production from boards. The study proves such automated determination possible by means of a corresponding computer program for simulated cutting of boards. The computer program optimizes furniture parts production on the basis of board defects (number of defects and their disposition) and the required dimensions of the corresponding furniture parts. Following the input of data on board defects and dimensions, the computer optimizes crosscutting-ripping and ripping-crosscutting of the board, and by comparing the two best optimization solutions (with regard to quantity yield), chooses one of the two, suggests the cutting method and the coordinates of cuttings, and predicts the results. With an appropriate defect detection, it is possible to develop a technological line for automatic production of furniture parts.
