Selection of production terms planning method
Research subject and fields:
Abstract:
The paper is a study of the methods of planning, managing and scheduling production by making priorities among work orders in production. The aim of the research has been to establish the way in which the differences between the individual regulations are manifested, and to find out which rule is the most acceptable in practice. As a result of the research, relevant factors for the choice of the method in priority determination have been established. By analysing all the relevant factors and establishing their values by special data processing procedure, we have created the conditions for the application of the methods in wood industry's daily practice. The quality of the individual methods and factors influencing the scheduling method choice have thus also been established. In absence of a parameter which expresses the quality of each method, a new coefficient has been devised in. That is the method flow coefficient f, and it is the proportion between the method cycle duration and the gradual production cycle duration. Thus, the best method for priority determination in two processing phases is the SOT method whereby the highest priority is given to the work orders with shortest duration. For three processing phases this will be the LOT method, whereby the highest priority is given to the work orders with the longest duration. The paper thus proves that the methods in question may be applied to the planning process in wood-technological manufacture, with certain limitations in application. The presented methods are based on rationalization of the planning process and the production management. In the research Samsung AT 286 PC has been used.
