Title:
A contribution to the issue of oversizing sawn wood due to sawing inaccuracy
Research subject and fields:
Abstract:
The difference between the dimensions in which boards are produced, and the dimensions in which they are sold is called oversizes. In spite of huge significance for sawmilling, the problems of oversizes are often neglected. The oversizes are dimensions that cannot be sold, but they must given in order to ensure the selling dimensions of boards. Except with over-sizes for shrinkage, considerable savings may be realized by correct giving of other oversizes, especially the oversizes due to sawing inaccuracy. Regardless of possible savings, the employers on many sawmills do not care about the sawing inaccuracy, although this is a factor that can do singificant financial damage, and on the other hand produce significant financial profits.
