Title:
Comparison of the yield for three methods of fir/spruce logs sawing
Research subject and fields:
Abstract:
With the repeated demand for fir/spruce quarter sawn timber in West Europe, to manufacturers it is becoming viable to produce such sawn timber because of the good price attainable on the market. But, technological inadequacy to make those products (possibly with extra workforce), then a relatively small volume yield among other things, place the manufacturer in a dilemma whether to deal with it and what is the benefit of all of it? Therefore this research has been carried out to solve these dilemmas. According to the results obtained from quartersawn timber sawing (two methods: common radial sawing, true radial sawing) they give a much better financial effects than, for now inveterate, "cant" sawing. In the results, in the sawing efficiency account, the sawn timber shorter than the length of the logs is not included and that does not essentially influence the final outcome. The researches show that the bigger quantity yield does not necessarily bring in a bigger value yield.
