Standards for classifying and testing of exterior wood coatings - EN 927 - Part 2.

First two standards in the set of European Standards EN 927 1-5, namely EN 927-1 and DD ENV 927-2, that aim at selection and performance classifiction of numerous and diverse exterior wood coatings, are presented in the first part of this paper. The second part brings methods for natural weathering test (EN 927-3), for testing water vapour permeability (EN 927-4) and liquid water permeability of the coating (EN 927-5). The purpose of these standards is to yield testing results which support the performance classification of coating systems according to standard DD ENV 927-2. A complete set of standards thus enables the determination of suitability and quality of coatings for exterior wood and their functional, technical and economical comparisons in a single European market.
