Title:
Temperature fields in windows
Research subject and fields:
Abstract:
In this paper; the analysis of heat transfer in composite materials of arbitrary shape is made by a Finite Volume Method (FVM). A two - dimensional, steadv case is assumed. An annlysis of temperature fields in cross section of windows is performed in order to check the appropriatness of the applied method. The solution domain is composed of different materials of various shapes. Temperature fields in windows with double and single window - pane are compared. It is shown how the air increases the thermal resistances, decreases the heat fluxes and increases the temperature on the surface of the windows - pane in the window with double window - pane. Results show that the temperature gradients in y and x planes are different, and that the calculation on the 20 mm height above the frame may be approximated with a one - dimensional analysis. ln order to confirm the validity of FV predictions, the calculated temperature is compared with the finite element computation. It is found that there is a cansiderable similarity between the two results. The performed calculations have shown that the computational technique could be used for windows research and design.
