Title:
Circular saw mechanics, Part I: Determination of the saw blade position
Research subject and fields:
Abstract:
Insufficient knowledge of the issue of mechanical woodworking and woodcutting with a circular saw may result in a number of unwanted consequences. These include unacceptable quality of cutting surfaces, unacceptable deviations from nominal dimensions, unacceptable specific cutting energy standards and many other unexpected results. The paper is concerned with the influence of the distance between the circular saw working table and the saw spindle axis on some significant cutting parameters, in particular the middle chip thickness, the cutting surface quality and the specific cutting energy. This problem occurs when the saw blade diameter is greater than the minimal diameter, as is normally the case.
