Title:

Wood industry as a source of air pollution

Abstract:

Environmental protection is one of the biggest issues nowadays. One of the most important problems is concerned with air pollution from stationary sources such as industrial plants, thermo-electrical plants, etc. Discharge of toxic gasses into the atmosphere is one of the problems that wood processing and furniture manufacturing plants have to deal with. This paper discusses the influence of the wood processing, furniture manufacturing and production of cellulose and paper plants on air-pollution in the Republic of Croatia. These data are analyzed and compared with the data from other Central European countries. Accoarding to the obtained research results, it can be noticed that Croatian wood processing and furniture manufacturing firms pay considerable attention to the environmental pootection from air pollution and toxic gasses.
